The Reason Why You Rarely See The Royal Couple Holding Hands
Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William, Duke of Cambridge are one of the most adored and well known royal couples in the history of the monarchy. But these days, they resemble more royal siblings than royal spouses.
They surely are the greatest looking royal couple of recent time. Their relationship is highly publicized since we are at the zenith of the Internet era and mass-communication. Each of their moves is in the public eye. In addition, they don’t seem like they are bothered by it, on the contrary, they carry themselves with much poise and graciousness.
You can see by their body language that they are quite close to each other. That is when they physically demonstrate their feelings in public.
However, if we take into consideration some of the photos that appear of their official state visits, one might think that they are just highly successful and close co-workers.
What gives us that impression?
They almost never arrive somewhere holding hands.
Robin Kermode, body language expert and founder of communications coaching company Zone2.co.uk told Daily Mail that it was all because of the Queen.
There, there, it’s not that the queen forbids PDA in any manner or form. It’s just that she has made an example of herself not to hold hands in public with Prince Philip.
Business is business, and pleasure is pleasure, and there is an appropriate place and time to exercise both.
‘It is very clear that William and Kate are emotionally close, however, they do not seem to feel the need to prove their love – particularly when on official state business,’ said Mr. Kermode for Daily Mail.
And indeed, holding hands might indeed leave the opposite impression of being close and having a stable relationship.
Only insecure people want to show off their loyalty and bond in much-exaggerated displays of affection. It makes couples look vulnerable and co-dependent.
And we all know that the royals must not give out that impression.
On the other hand, it’s not like Kate and William never had their share of PDA. They just go about it in a more refined manner.
On their 2016 visit to Canada, the couple was visibly on a happiness high!
Body language expert Elizabeth Kuhnke was asked to comment on some of the photos made on that trip for an article over at style.co.uk.
“Cheeky grins or secretive smiles – call them what you will. William looks like he’s whispering a secret suggestion that has the Duchess ready to burst out laughing as she affectionately strokes his shoulder.”
“They come across as a strong, independent couple and while they are always on show, they do not feel the need to “show” their love for each other to the world.”
They seem to take heed from their elders. Here is the Queen alongside her spouse both of them looking absolutely assured of their bond which has held an empire together for more than 50 years.
